Last weekend rumors were swirling about a possible Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson fight planned for August 30.

During the UFC 173 post-fight press conference UFC President Dana White confirmed that they got Alexander Gustafsson under a new contract and he signed a bout agreement to fight Jon Jones on August 30th.

“We didn’t announce it. I said we’re shooting for August 30. That’s the date we want for Jones-Gustafsson.

“We just signed Gustafsson to a new deal, and Jones is getting a new deal, too. We’re doing a new deal with him.”

White went on to say that until Jon Jones and the UFC come to terms, the bout is not on the books.
