GSP Extends Invitation to Johny Hendricks for Voluntary Drug Testing

“I believe the sport has a problem now” -UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre

UFC welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre went on record in a recent interview with Sportsnet.com on drug use in MMA where he came out with not only his personal opinion, but an invitation to his next challenger, Johny Hendricks.

“When I first started fighting in mixed martial arts, it didn’t have any money,” St-Pierre stated. “So, now more money got involved, more ways are there to be cheating to take a shortcut and I believe VADA testing I’m up for it and I invite my opponent to do the VADA testing for the championship fight.”

St-Pierre has come under fire in the past as opponents have accused him of using illegal substances to gain an edge in a fight, but now will push for voluntary testing for his upcoming fight with Hendricks:

“I invite if possible all the high-profile athletes in the UFC to do the same. I believe it’s a good thing. It’s a bit of a pain in the butt sometimes but I believe to make the sport (better).

St-Pierre has never failed a drug test in his career but now looks to set an example for other high-profile fighters to make sure that each fight, especially title fights, are fought on a level playing field.

Georges St-Pierre will defend his welterweight belt at UFC 167 on November 16th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada against Johny Hendricks.
