As you might have heard by now, this morning UFC president Dana White announced on Twitter that the welterweight fight between Johny Hendricks and Tyron Woodley, set to take place Saturday at UFC 192, has been canceled. The only info he gave was that it was due to an issue with Hendricks’ weight cut.

We then found out that Hendricks was rushed to the emergency room Thursday night and suffered an intestine blockage and a kidney stone.

Since then we’ve heard from Hendricks and Woodley, who will now get a title shot, but now we have more comments from White, who told Yahoo Sports that as of right now, he considers Hendricks a middleweight, meaning he’s going to push him to go up a division moving forward.

“Right now, I consider Johny Hendricks a middleweight. He’s near-death every time he cuts to 170. It’s hard every time. It’s dangerous and we’re not going to let guys do that. Sometimes, you have to protect guys from themselves.

“We just need to be very careful in these kinds of situations. We wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we let this guy keep trying to fight at a weight that he clearly can’t make [safely].”
