Years after the original JDS vs. Overeem fight was cancelled, the heavyweight scrap received a new birth following last weekend’s UFC 185 event.

UFC President Dana White vouched for the idea during his post-UFC 185 interview, stating, “I like it. Does Overeem like it?”

In 2014 the promotion made a second attempt at booking Overeem vs. JDS, however an undisclosed injury left Overeem’s commitment to the bout off the table.

According to the UFC Post show, Alistair Overeem is interested in the JDS fight.
