There is a new UFC lightweight champion and his name is Rafael dos Anjos. Although he just won the title at UFC 185, there’s already talks about who his first challenger will be.

Many have assumed that the winner of the upcoming lightweight fight between Donald Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov will in fact get a shot at the championship next. At the UFC 185 post-fight press conference UFC president Dana White spoke about the possibility.

“I think that’s what we’re going to go with. We’ve got to see what happens with Rafael.”

Dos Anjos apparently injured his knee a few weeks before his UFC 185 bout and will now need some time to heal. Reports are that it’s an MCL tear and shouldn’t keep the champ sidelined to long. We will have to wait and see.
