Yoel Romero reacts to Michael Bisping vs. Georges St-Pierre booking

Yoel Romero

Earlier this month, we learned that former welterweight champion and bona fide MMA legend Georges St-Pierre had ironed out his differences with the UFC and agreed to the terms of a new contract. Yesterday, we learned that the first fight of his anticipated comeback will pit him against middleweight champion Michael Bisping, at a to-be-determined date and location.

This news, unsurprisingly, thrust the combat sports world into a frenzy, as some fans applauded the matchup, and others shook their heads at the way St-Pierre’s title shot sabotages the many more deserving middleweight contenders – contenders like Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Luke Rockhold, Robert Whittaker, Gegard Mousasi, and of course, streaking Cuban powerhouse Yoel Romero.

Of all the contenders in the middleweight division, Romero is the most deserving of a title shot. As such, fans eagerly awaited his reaction to news that his long-awaited middleweight title shot had been put on the back-burner for this Bisping St-Pierre superfight.

On Wednesday evening, we got that reaction in the form of a short story posted to Twitter in three parts, which compares the middleweight contendership situation to someone cutting in line for food. See it below:

Though it’s arguable that Romero has deserved a title shot for some time, he truly struck his claim in November, when he crumpled former middleweight champion Chris Weidman with a third-round flying knee. With this bloody victory, he extended his current win streak to a whopping eight straight. Other highlights of this massive streak include a decision win over Jacare, a TKO over former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida, a knockout of Tim Kennedy, and a TKO of the dangerous Derek Brunson.
