Vitor Belfort suffered a first-round TKO at the hands of Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in the UFC 198 co-main event over the weekend in Curitiba, Brazil.
The win for “Jacare” likely puts him at the top of the middleweights for the next to contend for the championship belt. However, for Belfort, it sets him back in his hopes of fighting once again for UFC gold.
Belfort opened up with a statement on his Facebook page following the loss over the weekend.
“Saturday was a day that I went to work but I didn’t work. You guys ever had that feeling?
I’ve learned over the course of my life that we can’t stop to learn and the lesson that shot of my fight Saturday is: don’t expect too much the moment because if he doesn’t get and you don’t get it, nothing will happen. In my fight didn’t attack, I was focused on defense and I lost my greatest characteristic: the attack.
If I could leave my learning here to you guys which cost me a bitter defeat is not wait when the moment comes and yes go after him, with the certainty of conquest. Merit of my opponent. #Teambelfort Anosdemmanotopo #20”advertisement – continue reading below advertisement – continue reading below
