At UFC 196, Nate Diaz put on one of the most spectacular performances in UFC history as he defeated Conor McGregor via 2nd round submission. The win was even more shocking given that Diaz took the fight on two weeks notice, and admittedly wasn’t training for a marathon prior to the fight like UFC President Dana White stated.

The win over McGregor reportedly made Diaz a millionaire, and put his name in talks of potential title shots. Prior to UFC 196, Diaz had reportedly wanted a fight with former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre, something Tristar gym head coach Firas Zahabi stated he would try to make happen after Diaz’s win over McGregor.
