Don’t expect trash talk between CM Punk & Mickey Gall

We are now just over a week away from UFC 203, where CM Punk will make his highly anticipated UFC debut, as well as his MMA debut against undefeated 2-0 Mickey Gall.

Leading up to the fight, the MMA community is divided on whether or not they think Punk will win his fight. While his fellow Rufousport teammates, such as Anthony Pettis, are confident that he will win the fight, others believe that Gall’s MMA experience will pay off, and he will win the fight.

With that being said, the consensus among the MMA community, as well as fans, was that the fight would include WWE-style promotion given Punk’s background in the WWE.

Gall and Punk both attended a UFC 203 media call, where they spoke about the fight, as well as the buildup leading up to it, where they spoke about the situation:

Don’t expect Punk to promote the fight WWE-style however:

“I don’t see the need for it,” Punk said. “People love me or hate me already. I’m not trying to talk anybody into the building for this one. I think the allure is just the fact that it’s happening. The story writes itself. It’s not a fabricated thing where I have to kind of create some drama between me and Mickey.

“We’re going to fight. That’s the beauty of it. It doesn’t need to be a weird, verbal pissing contest. I think some of these guys, while it is entertainment and it is the (expletive)-talk business, I just don’t see it happening this time.”

Gall reiterated Punk’s statement, saying:

“The bottom line is we’re going to fight,” Gall said. “I don’t know. I think a lot of people are very excited from this. From what I’m seeing, it seems fine. We’re not going to put on and pretend to hate each other. I think there’s an appropriate amount of buildup. I think people are excited, and I know we are.”
