Fighters react to the promotions new UFC title belts

The Ultimate Fighting Championship unveiled it’s new UFC title belts yesterday, which don’t appear to be overly popular with fans or fighters.

Check out the unique belt design below:

The new design includes a plate to the left of the central UFC logo, which will feature the champion’s name and weight class. In addition, a smaller plate will the flag of the champion’s home country. The left plate will be surrounded by stones. Everytime a champion defends their title they will be given a red stone in place of the current setup. A plate will be on the inside with a serial number, as well as Dana White’s signature. No previous title defenses will be engraved or noted by stones on the new belts.

The twenty-five stones showcased on the new belts represent the 25 years of the UFC. As for the flag icons, they are meant to represent the home countries of the promotions first eight champions.

  • Canada – Carlos Newton
  • Brazil – Murilo Bustamante
  • Netherlands – Bas Rutten
  • Poland – Joanna Jedrzejczyk
  • Belarus – Andrei Arlovski
  • UK – Michael Bisping
  • Ireland – Conor McGregor

The promotion will introduce their first “Legacy Championship Belt” at tonight’s event in Brooklyn, this after Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw settle their business inside the octagon.

Shortly after the promotion unveiled their new UFC title belts, fighter reactions began to pour in on social media.
