The UFC’s two tallest fighters will headline UFC Rotterdam on September 2
The octagon will return to the Netherlands on September 2 and will feature a key heavyweight showdown between the promotions two tallest fighters in the evenings main event.
Stefan Struve (28-8 MMA), who stands at 7-foot tall, will return to action in front of his home crowd at UFC Rotterdam where he will square off against former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov who stands 6-foot 7 inches in height.
The Netherlands native, Struve, took to Twitter earlier this month where he stated his interest in fighting Volkov at UFC Rotterdam, this to prove who is the most skilled tall fighter in the world.
Shortly after Struve’s initial tweet, Volkov accepted “The Skyscraper’s” challenge and obviously the UFC brass were watching as this fight has now been made official by the promotion.
Stefan Struve is currently riding a two-fight win streak and has won three of his past four fights overall.
Struve’s most recent win came over Daniel Omielańczuk via submission (D’Arce Choke) at this past October’s UFC 204 event in Manchester, England.
Prior to that, “The Skyscraper” starched Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva with 16-second knockout at UFC Fight Night 87 in Rotterdam in May of 2016.
Meanwhile, Alexander Volkov was most recently seen in action at last month’s UFC on FOX 24 event in Kansas City where he earned a lopsided decision victory over veteran Roy Nelson.
Volkov’s victory over Nelson served as his fourth in a row and second straight under the UFC banner.
The former Bellator heavyweight champion made his octagon debut at UFC Fight Night 99 in Belfast, Northern Ireland where he earned a split-decision win over Timothy Johnson.
