Last night, on the main card of the UFC’s anticipated stop in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, strawweights Felice Herrig and Justine Kish collided in an interesting clash of styles.
In the end Herrig won this fight with a dominant decision, having dragged her foe to the mat multiple times, landed dozens of ground strikes, and threatened with a rear-naked choke by the time the fight had ended.
While Herrig’s win was certainly impressive, however, this fight got people talking for another, very different reason.
As Herrig threatened Kish with a deep, second-round rear-naked choke, some rather suspect looking brown stains began to appear on the Octagon surface. This led many members of the MMA community to speculate that one fighter had lost control of their bowels during the scramble.

It did not take long for a confident Kish to confirm these suspicions, acknowledging in a post-fight Tweet that “shit happens” in the Octagon, and that as a warrior, it’s her job to fight through it.
I am a warrior, and I will never quit #ShitHappens haha be back soon.

If Kish indeed did have an accident in the Octagon, she is not the first fighter to do so. She is, however the first fighter to admit to it so quickly and openly. Props to the strawweight for owning it! Shit certainly does happen in the perilous world of mixed martial arts.
With her win over Kish, Herrig moved onto a three-fight win-streak. Kish, meanwhile, lost for the first time as a pro mixed martial artist.
