In the main event of UFC 197, Jon Jones made a successful return to the Octagon and defeated Ovince Saint Preux to claim the interim UFC light heavyweight championship.
With Jones’ interim light heavyweight title win, Jones will now face Daniel Cormier for the undisputed light heavyweight championship. After it was announced earlier this week that Conor McGregor would no longer be fighting Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 200, Jones vs. DC II was mentioned as a possible main event for UFC 200 if Jones defeated OSP at UFC 197 and came out of the fight unscathed.
After defeating OSP, Jones spoke at the post-fight press conference to discuss a potential fight at UFC 200.
Jones: I feel great enough to fight at #UFC200, for sure. I know by Wednesday I'll be back in the gym getting ready for @DC_MMA #UFC197
