All this exciting stuff won’t happen if I go and lose. Very excited. Of course, a fight with Jones is very exciting. But I mean, when is he gonna be back? Like I don’t even know when this guy’s gonna be back so I think when we get more clarity in regards to when he’s coming back, I can make more of a decision. But I am still gonna retire by the time I turn 40.”

One of the biggest fights in the history of the sport goes down tomorrow night in the main event of UFC 226. And surely it will have many fans’ attention.
One half of the super fight is the UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier who will look to capture his second divisional UFC crown by dethroning the heavyweight king, Stipe Miocic.
With plenty of intrigue surrounding the bout by itself, there is also some looking ahead to be done as to what could be next for the winner.
As Cormier mentioned, his rival and ‘fan’, former UFC champion, Jon Jones has been a fun possibility for a trilogy bout at heavyweight. Of course, as the current champion mentioned there are several variables when it comes to this possibility.
Most obviously might be that Cormier needs to win. But not necessarily as no matter the result he will still be the light heavyweight titleholder. The divisional change gives it a bit of a more interesting twist though.
On Jones’ side of things, he’s still getting things resolved with USADA in terms of figuring out his suspension after his failed test at UFC 214 which came after facing Cormier for the second time.
All we is for certain is that the window is closing for these two to meet for a third and final time as Cormier plans to retire sooner rather than later.
