BREAKING | Champions clash of Cris Cyborg vs Amanda Nunes official for UFC 232

Amanda Nunes, Cris Cyborg

The first female super-fight is finally on. After speculation of if and when it would happen, the bantamweight and featherweight champs will meet.

The only logical next fight for the longtime featherweight ruler Cris “Cyborg” Justino seems to be a big champion vs champion fight and now she’s got it.

At UFC 232 on December 29th in Las Vegas, Cyborg will defend her title against the 135-pound champion Amanda “The Lioness” Nunes reports Ariel Helwani.

Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes has officially been signed for UFC 232 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas, according to multiple sources.

For the recently engaged bantamweight champion Nunes, this will be her fight time fighting at 145-pounds since 2011 when she defeated the future Bellator champion and consensus No. 2 best featherweight in the world, Julia Budd.

Since then Nunes has gone 10-3 at 135 and had very much success as she’s won seven in a row and will look to make it eight over the seemingly unbeatable Cyborg.

In Cyborg’s five UFC fights so far, each of her opponents have been natural bantamweights as they all have fought at 135 before or after their fights with Cyborg. Nunes will continue this trend but she will clearly be the most dangerous of the bunch.

If Cyborg can take out the champion looking to steal her crown, it begs the question as to what is left for her in the UFC as options are quite limited and it’s no secret that she hasn’t been happy with the UFC lately as she would have hoped to fight sooner.

Cyborg’s last bout came in March when she defended her title against the former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya. Nunes’ last defense came at UFC 224 in Brazil on May 12th when she defeated Raquel Pennington via fifth-round TKO.
