Patrick Cummins made his octagon debut back in 2014 at UFC 170 when he stepped in as a late replacement for an injured Rashad Evans against Daniel Cormier. In the eyes of many, there was no way Cummins could ever live up to the hype that UFC was pumping out leading into that fight. While he was dominated and knocked out in less than two minutes, the wrestler would go on to prove himself in the octagon.
Cummins possessed an impressive 4-1 UFC record before stepping into the octagon with former title challenger Glover Teixeira. Teixeira was looking to further wipe the fans’ memory of his tough losses to Jon Jones and Phil Davis with a third victory in a row, and did just that. Cummins showed a lot of heart and determination as he pressed on and took a serious beating before the referee felt he had to wave the fight off.
