Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about United Airlines’ recent public relations nightmare.
It began when United overbooked a flight from Chicago, Illinois to Louisville, Kentucky. The airline needed to free up four seats for United employees, so it began looking for volunteers, sweetening the pot as it often does when flights are overbooked, with monetary offers and flight vouchers.
When nobody accepted these bribes, United then initiated a shadowy rite that it calls The Involuntary Denial of Boarding Process – The only problem being that all passengers had already boarded the plane, meaning that instead of being denied entry, several passengers had to be escorted off the plane.
From there, United picked four passengers at random, who would be given the unfortunate news that they would not be flying to Louisville as planned. Three of these passengers accepted their fate and disembarked. The fourth, a doctor who claimed he had patients to see the following day, refused. So, United did the logical thing, and had a few ham-handed brutes drag this paying customer off the plane, bloodying his nose in the process. As this went down, the flight’s remaining passengers watched on in shock, scolding the mysterious aviation police as they pulled the dazed doctor off the plane. It was an incredibly ugly incident for United, and one that will probably have them haemorrhaging money for some time.
Now, you might be thinking: ‘I [used to] fly United! If this happened to the doctor, it could happen to me!’ Well, thankfully, we have the Rener and Ryron Gracie, and their ever-useful Gracie Breakdowns. In their latest breakdown, the two jiu jitsu stars show you how to defend against the very drag that was used against the doctor. Watch this hilarious video at the top of this post.
What do you think of this unfortunate incident on the United Airlines plane? Do you feel safer having watched this Gracie Breakdown? Sound off, PENN Nation!
