UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes Conor McGregor is taking the wrong approach in his attempt to secure a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The former two-division UFC champion, McGregor, has been fixated on getting another crack at “The Eagle” ever since he lost to the Russian via fourth round submission at UFC 229.

The bitter rivalry between McGregor and Nurmagomedov has escalated in recent weeks, this after “Mystic Mac” insulted Khabib’s wife and religion in a social media post.

Conor’s controversial post (which was later deleted) resulted in a scathing response from Khabib, who referred to the Irish star as a “rapist”.

On his most recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan discussed the pairs rivalry and informed fans that he expects to see the former “champ champ” back in action soon.

“Hans Molenkamp, from Monster. He sent me pictures sparring with Conor today. So Conor’s training, he is doing something. He’s training, he’s going to fight.” said Joe Rogan (via SportsJoe). “He’s probably just fucking with people. Conor is a master showman in terms of how to keep people interested in him. I just think it got way out of line with this Khabib stuff.”

Rogan would go on to explain what he feels Conor McGregor must do in order to secure his much desired rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“I don’t think the way to get another fight with Khabib is to continue talking shit after he smashes you. He doesn’t have any reason to,” Rogan said. “I think, in order for him to have a real chance of getting another shot, what he’s got to do is beat somebody big and say something that makes Khabib consider it but not in the way that he’s been doing it in terms of talking shit about him and talking smack.

“The only way is to get public demand. He’s going to have to get to a position where people want to see him fight Khabib again but think that the result could be different this time.”

Joe Rogan continued:

“And maybe if he could just communicate something to him. Say, ‘I respect you. All trash talk aside, I’d like to test myself against you one more time and I think I’ve earned it.’ I think that’s the only way he’s going to get it – win a couple of fights, beat some big-name guys and then make it something that Khabib is interested in.”
