Friday afternoon, UFC President Dana White revealed that Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson would be getting the next welterweight title shot.
The news came after a period of uncertainty following Woodley’s UFC 201 knockout win over Robbie Lawler at the end of last month. Following the win, Woodley shut Thompson down on the FS1 post-fight show, calling for a fight against Georges St-Pierre or Nick Diaz instead.
Friday afternoon, on the heels of White’s comments, ‘The Chosen One’ took to Twitter to give his thoughts on the news:
Funny how there is an official fight announced and I 1) Havent spoken to anyone 2) Agreed on opponent or date 3) Signed a bout agreement. 😭😭
