A heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and Marcos Rogerio de Lima served as the co-headliner of today’s UFC Prague event.
The former heavyweight contender, Stefan Struve (28-11 MMA), will enter tonight’s contest looking to rebound after suffering three setbacks in a row.
In his most recent effort this past July, Struve suffered a unanimous decision loss to Marcin Tybura.
Struve’s most recent win came back in October of 2016 when he submitted Daniel Omielanczuk at UFC 204.
Meanwhile, Marcos Rogerio de Lima was last seen in action at November’s UFC 230 event, where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Adam Wieczorek.
Round one of the UFC Prague co-main event begins and de Lima is able to get Struve to the floor almost instantly. Marcos is working on top in half guard. He’s landing some good ground and pound from the position. Stefan Struve looks to lock up a kimura, but de Lima is wise to it and breaks free. Big ground and pound now from Marcos Rogerio de Lima. Struve fights his way back to full guard. More heavy shots from Marcos. He passes to side control and then right into mount. More big shots before the horn sounds to end round one.
Round two begins and the fighters clinch up right off the get go. Stefan Struve with a hip toss and winds up in half guard. Stuve is looking to move to mount. De Lima is trying to hang on to the position but he is in a bad spot here. Stefan Struve looks for an arm-triangle choke. He locks it in but is still in half guard. He needs to get his one leg free and this could be all over. Never mind. Apparently Struve can pull off an arm triangle submission from half guard. Who knew? The Skyscraper picks up his first win in over two years.
