Rory MacDonald is arguably the highest-profile free agent that Bellator MMA has picked up to date. Unfortunately, the former UFC welterweight title challenger is getting a little frustrated with his new employer.
Though MacDonald initially seemed very excited with the way Bellator operates, he has since begun to criticize the promotion in the same way several other fighters have in the past. He feels they’re not keeping him active enough.
MacDonald raised his concerns in this regard on Twitter earlier this weekend, explaining to a fan that, while he’d like to fight once more this year, it doesn’t look like it’ll happen.

MacDonald then shared a similar sentiment in a comment on Instagram, saying he is “waiting impatiently for a fight.”

MacDonald debuted in the Bellator cage back in May, when he submitted Paul Daley at Bellator 179. With this win, MacDonald seemed to earn himself a shot at reigning Bellator welterweight champ Douglas Lima. Unfortunately, it seems that his desired title shot probably isn’t coming anytime soon. Luckily, MacDonald has previously expressed interest in super fights with much larger fighters like Chael Sonnen and Fedor Emelianenko, so he would appear to have other options.
Do you think Bellator MMA should work harder to assure fighters like Rory MacDonald are able to stay active? Who would you like to see Rory MacDonald fight, if not Douglas Lima? Join the conversation in the comments section.
