Henry Cejudo says win at UFC 238 makes him the best ‘pound-for-pound’ fighter

Henry Cejudo

In the main event of UFC 238, Henry Cejudo has a chance to become a champ-champ. He is the reigning flyweight champion, and after knocking out T.J. Dillashaw, the Olympic gold medalist is moving up in weight to take on Marlon Moraes for the vacant bantamweight title.

If Cejudo can become a champ-champ, he believes he will be the best pound-for-pound fighter.

“First and foremost guys. You guys are acting a little shy. I would like to start off by, I’ve been called some nasty things in my life and I’m sick of it. I’ve been called a gold digger, I’ve been called a son of a gold, I’ve been called an Olympic champion, UFC champion, Hall of Famer, author, dreamcatcher, dream snatcher, G.O.A.T. killer, the king of cringe, greatest combat athlete of all-time. But, never have I been called the ‘P’ word and I’m sick of it,” Cejudo said at his media luncheon. “On June 8 that’s all going to change. I will be the next pound-for-pound king. You can tell Daniel Cormier, you can tell Jon Jones, you can tell Khabib Nurmagomedov there is a new sheriff in town. His name is Henry Cejudo and guess what Dana White if you are watching, he happens to be a flyweight.”

Not only does Henry Cejudo think he would be the best pound-for-pound fighter, but he says he would be the greatest comeback fighter of all-time, as well. He went from being knocked out by Demetrious Johnson, to coming back and beating the considered unbeatable ’Mighty Mouse’.

Then, he knocked out the reigning bantamweight champion, at the time, T.J. Dillashaw in just 26 seconds.

“Find the greatest comeback athlete of all time – I believe that’s me,” he said. “And I believe fighting for this second belt, I’m going to cement it even more.”
