Today’s UFC event in Singapore was headlined by a welterweight fight featuring surging division contender Leon Edwards taking on veteran and likely future UFC Hall of Famer Donald Cerrone.
Edwards entered the contest on a five fight win streak, while his opponent “Cowboy” Cerrone had gone just 1-3 over his past four octagon appearances.
Edwards set the tone early on in round one by landing a hard body kick on Cerrone and then following up with a plethora of strikes against the cage. Edwards would eventually catch Cerrone with a nasty elbow that left Donald bloodied and swinging at air. However, in ture “Cowboy” fashion, Cerrone would survive to see round two.
Round two was more of the same from Edwards, who continued to land heavy strikes to the legs and body of Cerrone. Donald would catch Leon with a high kick towards the end of the round but it was not enough to put Edwards away.
