It’s been known for awhile that Daniel Cormier will be fighting Volkan Oezdemir next. There hasn’t been a formal announcement yet, but it looks like they’ll be dropping the word soon for a match-up potentially landing at UFC 220. It must be getting close because the two have already started talking up the heavyweight scrap. BT Sport caught up to Oezdemir he straight up said he would knock Cormier out in the first round. Daniel Cormier couldn’t let that stand, but had to come back at the man with something extra special: Young Jeezy featuring Keisha Cole.

“I’m here. I’m going to fight for that belt for sure. Daniel chose me. I’m really humbled by this decision and I really can’t wait to give everything for this fight. I will have the title fight next.  I’m going to knock him out in the first round. Again, No Time.” — Volkan Oezdemir speaking to BT Sport.

That song was dedicated to anybody out there that got some dreams. Don’t give up on your dream’s, real talk. Evidently Daniel Cormier thinks Volkan Oezdemir is ‘dreamin” if he thinks he’s going to KO the champ. Of course, Cormier has endured a rocket-fist from Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson and came back to win. Not to mention his top five run at heavyweight, so Cormier has proven his chin to be strong.

On the other hand, Oezdemir has a mind-boggling 12 first-round finishes in his 15-1 career. Two of those were against Misha Cirkunov and Jimi Manuwa. No doubt he’s earned his ‘No Time’ nickname. It’s going to be interesting to see how the match-up for the UFC light heavyweight championship goes down as Daniel Cormier tries to prevent the dreamer from putting him to sleep.
