Woodley was able to get Thompson to the floor in round one, where he utilized his strong wrestling skills to dominate ‘Wonderboy’ for the first five minutes of the contest.
Rounds two and three went in favor of the challenger, as Thompson was able to find his range and outpoint Woodley in the stand-up game.
However, in round four T-Wood was able to land a huge right hand that sent Thompson crashing the canvas. From there Woodley was all over Stephen but ‘Wonderboy’ showed a ton of heart and was able to survive the round.
In the fifth and final round Thompson was able to utilize his striking to frustrate Woodley, easily winning the final frame on points.
However, Thompson’s final round was not enough to earn him the victory as the judges ruled the fight a majority draw.
