UFC featherweight champion is one of the biggest stars the UFC has ever seen for a reason. The polarizing Irishman delivers a performance inside and out of the Octagon.
“The Notorious” has the biggest fight of his life coming up on November 12 at UFC 205 in New York’s Madison Square Garden. McGregor will challenge UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez while still maintaining the status as the champion of the featherweight division. If Conor gets his hand raised over Alvarez in their lightweight title fight, he will become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two division’s titles at the same time.
UFC President Dana White has stated that if “The Notorious” does win the lightweight belt from Alvarez, he will have to decide on which division’s title he will vacate. McGregor told Sports Illustrated in a phone interview that everyone should focus on witnessing history being made and to let him get his second belt before talking about stripping him of any titles.
“Let me look at the historic images we’re going to get on this night, me with these two belts. That’s what everyone should be excited about, this is history.”
With all the talk about McGregor holding up two divisions by holding two belts, “The Notorious” just wants his magic moment.
“Don’t be trying to take away the historic moment before I’ve even experienced it.”
