Teddy Atlas’ stunning prediction for McGregor Mayweather fight

Conor McGregor Floyd Mayweather

With talks progressing in regards to a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Maywather superfight inside the boxing ring, numerous members of the combat sports community have continued to release their prediction for who they feel would win in a boxing match. While the majority of fighters and coaches feel that undefeated prizefighter would likely get the W in a McGregor Mayweather superfight, Conor McGregor’s power and precision cannot be ignored, and have made for extremely interesting fight predictions.

With that being said, famed boxing trainer Teddy Atlas has given quite the stunning prediction for the fight, explaining to ESPN that he believes McGregor will cheat in order to proclaim himself ‘King of the Ring.’:

“If McGregor really can’t win the fight standing up, under (boxing) rules — and those would be the rules — then why would he take it? Because he would break the rules,” Atlas told ESPN.

“He would come in there, he would break the rules, he would pin pin him, and then he would proclaim himself as the ‘king of the ring’. Even though he might lose the purse money, his brand would go through the roof.

“He’s a promotional genius, just like Floyd is, just like Muhammad Ali was,” he said. “Nobody is thinking of that part of it. Floyd, before he puts his John Hancock on any contract, he better think that part of it.”

This comes on the heels of Floyd Mayweather’s training partner, UFC lightweight Kevin Lee explaining that if he were McGregor, he would be using the clinch to throw Mayweather when the boxer inevitably clinches.

By the sound of things, Lee isn’t the only one who foresees McGregor throwing Mayweather to the canvas if the boxing match takes place!

Only time will tell if this fight will ever become official, or if McGregor is able to defeat Mayweather.
