Over the last few weeks, former UFC title challenger and current Bellator star Chael Sonnen has made several callouts of retired MMA legend Chuck Liddell.

Sonnen has also suggested that his desired matchup with Liddell could actually come to fruition.
“I think the most likely opponent [for me next fight] is going to end up being Chuck Liddell,” Sonnen recently told FloCombat. “We’ll see what happens there, but that’s what I think is going to happen. I think there are actual legs to this Chuck thing. I really do.”

According to Liddell, however, these comments from Sonnen are not particularly accurate. “The Iceman” cleared the air during a recent chat with TMZ.
“I’ve never been very interested in fighting him,” Liddell said (h/t MMAFighting.com). “He’s kind of a boring fighter. I mean, it’s a great matchup for me if we’re gonna fight but I haven’t talked to anybody about anything.”
“It’s an easy matchup. . . He ain’t gonna take me down and lay on me.”
That said, Liddell understands why Sonnen is angling for the fight: It’d be a big one for all parties involved.
“He wants a big money fight, right?” Liddell said. “It’s gonna be big money if I’m fighting him. He needs to draw something… For sure [it would have to be a big payday].”
