Unfortunate news surfaced this week that top ranked UFC featherweight The Korean Zombie, also known as Chan Sung Jung, had been forced out of his upcoming scheduled scrap with Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214 due to an undisclosed injury.
While details regarding the injury sustained by Jung weren’t immediately made available, Chris Taylor has now confirmed the injury with a member of Jung’s team.
I have confirmed that @KoreanZombieMMA has suffered a torn ACL. He will have surgery on June 9 & will not be able to train for 6 months #UFC

Jung of course recently returned to the Octagon from a 4-year hiatus, which saw him complete his mandatory 2 year military service to South Korea. In his return fight, Jung stopped Dennis Bermudez in the first round with a brutal uppercut to reclaim his spot amongst the elite of the UFC’s 145 pound division.
As it was initially reported earlier in the week, the UFC is seeking a replacement opponent for #3 ranked featherweight Ricardo Lamas.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
