Bellator adds two title fights to June’s pay-per-view card in New York City

Bellator MMA has added two title fights to their blockbuster pay-per-view card set for June 24 in New York City.

The first championship bout announced for the card was a welterweight title fight featuring champion Douglas Lima taking on promotional newcomer Lorenz “Da Monsoon” Larkin.

The Los Angeles Times was the first to report the welterweight title fight.

Douglas Lima recently took back his Bellator welterweight title by defeating Andrey Koreshkov via third-round knockout at Bellator 164 this past November.

Lima has gone 7-1 overall in his past eight contests, with his lone loss in that time coming to the aforementioned Koreshkov via decision in July of 2015.

Meanwhile, Lorenz Larkin will receive an instant title shot, this after signing with Bellator MMA just earlier this week.

Larkin was last seen in action at UFC 202 where he put on arguably the finest performance of his career destroying perennial welterweight contender Neil Magny via TKO (elbows) in the very first-round.

Larkin has gone 4-1 overall in his past five contests, with the lone setback coming via a controversial split-decision to Albert Tumenov at UFC 195 in January of 2016.

The second championship bout announced for the historic fight card was a lightweight title fight featuring current champion Michael Chandler taking on undefeated challenger Brent Primus.

Michael Chandler most recently fought at Bellator 165 this past November, where he scored a split-decision victory over former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson, thus retaining his lightweight title.

Chandler has now won four-straight fights, with his most recent setback coming to Will Brooks via TKO at Bellator 131 in November of 2014.

As for Brent Primus, the undefeated product of Oregon was most recently seen in action at Bellator 153, where he scored a split-decision victory over Gleristone Santos.

Primus has gone a perfect 7-0 during his young mixed martial arts career, scoring five victories (3 finishes) while fighting under the Bellator banner.
