The UFC is working on an eye-catching bout for its debut in South Carolina. The promotion is angling for a bout between female flyweights Montana De La Rosa and Andrea Lee for UFC Greenville on June 22, per FloCombat.
Initially, the UFC was targeting Montana De La Rosa for a bout at UFC 236 against Paige VanZant -— a fight De La Rosa was lobbying for. However, an arm injury prevented VanZant from being able to take the fight.
Coming off of three straight wins to kick off her UFC career, De La Rosa will look to make it four for four against Lee. After losing to Nicco Montano on The Ultimate Fighter 26, De La Rosa has submitted a trifecta of UFC foes: Cristina Marks, Rachael Ostovich, and Nadia Kassem.
A former champion of LFA, “KGB” Lee has won both of her UFC appearances thus far. In her last outing, Lee defeated Ashlee Evans-Smith by unanimous decision. Prior to that, Lee defeated Veronica Macedo in her UFC debut late last year.
At present, only a few other bouts have been linked to the UFC Greenville bill. Here’s the lineup for the card as it currently stands:
- Montana De La Rosa vs. Andrea Lee – Flyweight
- Allen Crowder vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik – Heavyweight
- Bevon Lewis vs. Darren Stewart – Middleweight
- Ashley Yoder vs. Syuri Kondo – Strawweight
The card will air on ESPN+.
