Bellator welterweight champion, Ben Askren (12-0 MMA), is currently in contract limbo, sitting on the shelf with Bellator, while waiting for a contract offer from the UFC.<\/p>\n

Bellator President, Bjorn Rebney, stated that he would happily let Ben Askren go, if the UFC would give him an immediate title shot.<\/p>\n

UFC president, Dana White, did not seem to take Bellator’s offer serious, leading one to believe that if Askren did sign, he would probably have to win a couple of fights before receiving a shot at UFC gold.<\/p>\n

Longtime UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre (24-2 MMA, 18-2 UFC), recently spoke with mmajunkie.com and shared his thoughts on fighting Ben Askren:<\/p>\n

“Of course (I’d like to fight him),” <\/em>stated Georges. “He’s a good fighter, undefeated, and yes, if he comes, I’ll fight him. No problem.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/em>St. Pierre continued:<\/p>\n

“Bring him in; I’ll fight ev<\/em>eryone. I am the champion, and I have no choice, so it’s no problem. I’m not afraid.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/em>Georges St. Pierre is set to defend his UFC welterweight title against number 1 contender Johny Hendricks at next month’s UFC 167 event in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
