Pettis made the most of that shot, submitting Henderson in the first round to become the new UFC lightweight champion and going 2-0 against Henderson.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Now, in a confirmed report by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mmafighting.com\/2013\/9\/3\/4691864\/anthony-pettis-will-meet-tj-grant-not-jose-aldo-next\">MMAFighting.com<\/a>, UFC president Dana White has confirmed that TJ Grant will,<a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/tj-grant-not-promised-title-shot-once-returned-from-injury\/\"> in fact<\/a>, be granted his lightweight title shot, except now it will be against Pettis at an unknown location. Kevin Iole is credited with tweeting the announcement first:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Iole-Pettis-Update.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-68238\" title=\"Iole Pettis Update\" src=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Iole-Pettis-Update.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"115\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dana White also went on to SportsCenter to update the public on Pettis&#8217; injury status, revealing that Pettis sustained a grade II ankle sprain and will be out 7-8 weeks.
