Some fans and fighters alike went so far as to call O&#8217;Malley&#8217;s win a &#8216;robbery&#8217; as they felt Yan deserved the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on a recent episode of the &#8216;BroMalley&#8217; podcast, O&#8217;Malley discussed such claims, saying (h\/t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmanews.com\/2022\/10\/sean-omalley-ufc-280-robbery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMANews<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cA robbery? The third round I won, second round he won, first round was close as f**k and I did more damage. It\u2019s not really a robbery. It was a close fight. It was a really, really, really close fight.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Sugar&#8217; continued to share his thoughts prior to the scores being announced:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI was just okay with whatever happened. I just got punched in the fucking head, I don\u2019t know how the fight played out. Obviously, I didn\u2019t f**king watch it, but back when I went back and watched it I said yeah it was close, I get it. If that was Cory vs. Petr or anyone else vs. Petr and they got the nod, I wonder how much the narrative changed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Following the victory, Sean O\u2019Malley is now the <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/sean-omalley\/sean-omalley-makes-huge-jump-up-bantamweight-rankings-after-beating-petr-yan\/\">No. 1 bantamweight contender<\/a> in the UFC bantamweight rankings.
