Unfortnately for Ferguson, the result did not go his way <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/tony-ferguson\/tony-ferguson-opens-up-on-ko-loss-to-michael-chandler-says-it-was-a-scary-feeling-not-remembering-anything\/\">as he was knocked out in the second round<\/a>, but in the first round, he had some success and says that is what is keeping him going.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI said if I knew that I didn\u2019t have the gumption or the will to want to go anymore, if I didn\u2019t do good in that first round, I would have called it quits.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TonyFergusonXT?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TonyFergusonXT<\/a> on his renewed motivation and possibly retiring if he didn\u2019t do well in the first round at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/UFC274?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#UFC274<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WK4cjhjH0N\">pic.twitter.com\/WK4cjhjH0N<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Submission Radio (@SubmissionRadio) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SubmissionRadio\/status\/1526179196112089088?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 16, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I had to go back, I talked to my Dad, I talked to my coaches, and I said if I knew that I didn\u2019t have the gumption or the will to want to go anymore, if I didn\u2019t do good in that first round, I would have called it quits,&#8221; Ferguson said to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SubmissionRadio\/status\/1526179196112089088\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Submission Radio<\/a>. &#8220;I would have said, f**k this, I\u2019m out, I\u2019m retiring, I\u2019m going to go find something different, I\u2019ll coach everybody to be at this high level and that\u2019s it. But, when I went back and watched the fight and I remember reviewing everything, it was like something happened, something clicked in me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tony Ferguson did have some success in the fight as he says, as he landed some solid shots on Michael Chandler. Even though the result didn&#8217;t go his way, he says he now has his hunger back and is excited to get back into there once he is ready.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So, here I am, I have a TKO on my record, I have a submission record, you know what I mean. I\u2019ve been put out, knocked out, I\u2019ve lost by TKO, I\u2019ve lost by decision,&#8221; Ferguson said. &#8220;It\u2019s a pain in the ass to be able to look at these losses, but like I said, if I didn&#8217;t have the will and the want to be able to do that and then know that when Dana said I looked phenomenal in that first round, I looked really good, I would have just called it quits. But right now I\u2019m f*****g hungry, man.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I found myself back in the gym hitting the bag really light, not going too hard. This morning I didn\u2019t wake up with a headache,&#8221; Ferguson continued. &#8220;I felt f*****g phenomenal this morning, I felt really good. I\u2019ve been eating really well, I haven\u2019t been treating my body like s**t or my mental game like s**t. I\u2019ve really been focusing on what I can control, and you know, shout out to the world. The only things that we can control is our heart rate and our breathing.
