After both men came out on top with wins in their respective bouts, they had a confrontation backstage that ended with Masvidal hitting Edwards with a combination he called a &#8220;three piece and a soda&#8221;. Then, just a few months ago, &#8220;Gamebred&#8221; was supposed to meet &#8220;Rocky&#8221; at UFC 269 &#8211; only for an injury to rule Masvidal out of the contest.<\/p>\n<p>Now, after Masvidal&#8217;s loss to Covington earlier this month, Edwards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HI6Zv1hmwG0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spoke to ESPN<\/a> about where he went wrong.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Leon Edwards Convo: Kamaru Usman rematch, helping kids in Birmingham &amp; more | ESPN MMA\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HI6Zv1hmwG0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cMasvidal came out and tried his best for like two, three minutes, and if it doesn\u2019t go his way he\u2019s gonna settle into losing and that\u2019s exactly what he did. He always does it. If he doesn\u2019t get success in the first two to three minutes, he\u2019ll settle into a pattern where he\u2019ll just coast through a fight to lose.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cHe had a good year [2019] and just got to ride that wave. It is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edwards went on to suggest that Jorge didn&#8217;t do &#8220;any&#8221; of the things required to beat Colby, before being questioned on fighting him in the future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI think my career is going like this [up] and his is going like that [down]. He\u2019s on like, what, a three fight losing streak now I think? I don\u2019t know. I might win the belt and be like you know what, let me defend it against Jorge. That would be a big PPV and I\u2019d just spank him there.
