{"id":437596,"date":"2022-03-25T12:20:03","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T19:20:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/?p=437596"},"modified":"2022-03-25T12:20:03","modified_gmt":"2022-03-25T19:20:03","slug":"rafael-dos-anjos-fires-back-at-conor-mcgregor-for-suggesting-he-is-never-eligible-for-the-bmf-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/ufc\/rafael-dos-anjos-fires-back-at-conor-mcgregor-for-suggesting-he-is-never-eligible-for-the-bmf-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Rafael Dos Anjos fires back at Conor McGregor for suggesting he is never eligible for the BMF title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rafael Dos Anjos has fired back at Conor McGregor for suggesting he is not worthy of the BMF Title.<\/p>\n<p>Rafael Dos Anjos (31-13 MMA) has put together back-to-back wins, defeating Renato Carneiro (13-1 MMA) at UFC 272 in March of this year, and Paul Felder (17-6 MMA) at UFC Fight Night 182 in November 2020.<\/p>\n<p>It was after Jorge Masvidal allegedly sucker punched Colby Covington outside a restaurant in Miami, that Dos Anjos claimed the BMF belt should be stripped from &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/jorge-masvidal\/ufc-star-jorge-masvidal-has-been-arrested-for-his-alleged-attack-on-colby-covington\/\">Gamebred<\/a>&#8216; and given to him, as he believes he is the true BMF of the UFC.<\/p>\n<p>Taking to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> Dos Anjos said:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You\u2019re either a BMF or you\u2019re a sucker puncher.<br \/>Can\u2019t be both. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/danawhite?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@danawhite<\/a> time to hand that belt to me.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RdosAnjosMMA\/status\/1507004013925044226?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 24, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;You&#8217;re either a BMF or you&#8217;re a sucker puncher. Can&#8217;t be both @danawhite time to hand that belt to me.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Conor McGregor has taken issue with that tweet, responding to &#8216;RDA&#8217; via social media:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cPulled out with a sore toe in what would have been the biggest fight of your bloodline\u2019s existence. Past, present, and future. You are never eligible.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-301528\" src=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rafael-Dos-Anjos-Conor-McGregor.jpg\" alt=\"Rafael dos Anjos, Conor McGregor\" width=\"696\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rafael-Dos-Anjos-Conor-McGregor.jpg 696w, https:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rafael-Dos-Anjos-Conor-McGregor-300x172.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>McGregor was referring to Dos Anjos pulling out of their UFC 196 bout &#8211; way back in 2016 &#8211; due to injury.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;RDA&#8217; weighing in on McGregor saying he would &#8216;never be eligible&#8217; for the BMF belt tweeted:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Says the bitch that needs bodyguards to go weigh in and taps to rear naked chokes too scared to go to sleep\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Rafael dos Anjos (@RdosAnjosMMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RdosAnjosMMA\/status\/1507088279744745479?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 24, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Says the bitch that needs bodyguards to go weigh in and tops to rear naked chokes too scared to go to sleep&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Of course the BFM belt came about after UFC 241 where Nate Diaz proclaimed himself the &#8220;baddest motherf**ker in the game&#8221; after defeating Anthony Pettis. Following that win Diaz proceeded to issue a callout to Masvidal. When the Diaz vs Masvidal fight was announced, Dana White proclaimed there would be a celebratory BMF belt and it would be awarded to the winner. In November of 2019 at UFC 244, Masvidal did in fact defeat Diaz and claimed the BMF belt.
