However, the bout was initially supposed to see him clash with Max Holloway in what would serve as the third fight in their trilogy series.<\/p>\n<p>An injury to Holloway ensured that wouldn&#8217;t happen but after &#8220;Blessed&#8221; quickly asked to be the back-up fighter for the main event, Volkanovski <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/ufc\/alex-volkanovski-blasts-max-holloway-for-requesting-backup-role-at-ufc-273-so-in-other-words-he-was-never-injured\/\">snapped and accused<\/a> Holloway of faking his injury.<\/p>\n<p>Now, during a recent interview with Submission Radio, &#8220;The Great&#8221; has opted to retract his previous remarks.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"UFC 273: Alex Volkanovski Admits He Mishandled Max Holloway Situation: It Was &quot;Silly Of Me&quot;\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/57D5aXHb_4U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt was frustrating because at the time I really wanted that fight, you know what I mean, and once you heard he got injured, especially when they announced it earlier, it was all a bit confusing and frustrating,\u201d Volkanovski said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cSo you seen my frustration obviously. I wanted to tweet and have a little shot at Max and his fans, and that was the only reason, which was pretty silly on my behalf, to be honest. That just shows you where sort of my head was at back then, you know what I mean?
