{"id":435375,"date":"2022-03-04T09:29:41","date_gmt":"2022-03-04T17:29:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/?p=435375"},"modified":"2022-03-04T09:29:41","modified_gmt":"2022-03-04T17:29:41","slug":"michael-chandler-explains-why-tony-ferguson-is-a-tougher-puzzle-to-solve-than-conor-mcgregor-hes-less-predictable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/ufc\/michael-chandler-explains-why-tony-ferguson-is-a-tougher-puzzle-to-solve-than-conor-mcgregor-hes-less-predictable\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Chandler explains why Tony Ferguson is a tougher puzzle to solve than Conor McGregor: \u201cHe\u2019s less predictable\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Chandler believes he would have a more difficult time fighting Tony Ferguson than getting in the Octagon with Conor McGregor.<\/p>\n<p>Chandler last fought at UFC 245 in November 2021, where he succumbed to defeat against Justin Gaethje (23-3 MMA) by decision in the third round.<\/p>\n<p>Chandler (22-7 MMA) is currently in line to fight Ferguson (25-6 MMA) possibly in the May timeframe of this year. &#8216;Iron&#8217; has also expressed interest in meeting former UFC dual-champ Conor McGregor (22-6 MMA) in the cage.<\/p>\n<p>Chandler, speaking to Brendan Schaub on &#8216;Food Truck Diaries&#8217; had this to say (h\/t <a href=\"https:\/\/mmajunkie.usatoday.com\/2022\/03\/ufc-opinion-analysis-michael-chandler-why-tony-ferguson-tougher-puzzle-than-conor-mcgregor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMAJunkie<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI think Tony might be a tougher puzzle to solve just because inside, he\u2019s less predictable. Not that Conor is predictable \u2013 he\u2019s a phenomenal athlete. But what you see with Conor is a lot of times what you get, and it\u2019s a hard puzzle to solve, but once (you do) it\u2019s much more predictable. I think Tony just brings that little bit of uncertainty at all times. Plus, his cardio never slows down.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Chandler would ultimately like a match-up against UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira (32-8 MMA) and getting in the Octagon with Ferguson and McGregor, and winning, could put him on track for just such a fight.<\/p>\n<p>In speaking about a fight with &#8216;El Cucuy&#8217; or &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/conor-mcgregor\/tyson-fury-admits-banter-with-conor-mcgregor-was-a-bit-of-a-publicity-stunt-only-beef-we-would-have-is-me-eating-him-in-a-beef-sandwich\/\">The Notorious<\/a>&#8216;, Chandler had this to say:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTo get to the title shot, I don\u2019t know. I think they\u2019re both kind of similar,\u201d<\/em> Chandler said. <em>\u201cObviously, you\u2019ve got Conor coming back and you\u2019ve got Tony, who\u2019s got a couple of losses.
