John Fury claims \u201ca complete idiot in the gym\u201d is responsible for Tommy having to pullout of his fight with Jake Paul.<\/p>\n

Tommy Fury (7-0) and Jake Paul (4-0) were set to collide in a highly anticipated boxing match on December 18th. However, the Englishman suffered a broken rib in training and was forced to withdraw from the contest.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with \u2018Behind The Gloves\u2019, Tommy\u2019s father John explained that an \u201cidiot in the gym\u201d<\/em> is to blame for the \u2018Paul vs Fury\u2019 cancellation.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s had a bacterial chest infection for about six or seven weeks, but that didn\u2019t bother us, we were going to battle through that,\u201d<\/em> John Fury said (via the Mirror<\/a>). \u201cBut owing to a complete idiot in the gym, punched him in the ribs. A man of 16 or 17 stone with his bare-knuckle, punched him in the ribs and broke his ribs. At the end of the day, I was horrified, we were going to try and battle through it, because when we got him x-rayed they said, \u2018No, it\u2019s just bruised, it\u2019s ligament damage\u2019. And then, he was sparring and he couldn\u2019t throw a punch, he couldn\u2019t move.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

John Fury continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018Look, I\u2019m in bad pain dad.\u2019 He said to Tyson, \u2018I\u2019m in bad pain, I can\u2019t move\u2019. So, I took him to a specialist in Manchester, they x-rayed him properly and the finding was there. Broke ribs, what can you do? Chest infection, broke ribs, it\u2019s unfortunate, it\u2019s cost a lot of money, people have lost a lot of money, the disappointment is immense for Tommy and us. But, we\u2019ll bounce back, we\u2019re fighters, if you want to reschedule, that\u2019s not a problem.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Jake Paul is now scheduled to rematch<\/a> Tyron Woodley at the December 18th event in Tampa Bay, Florida.<\/p>\n

As for Tommy Fury, the Englishman\u2019s next move still remains unclear.<\/p>\n
