Could they see each other in the Octagon next?<\/p>\n<p>Directly prior to Oliveira&#8217;s vacant lightweight title bout with Michael Chandler, Dariush went out and dispatched of &#8220;El Cucuy&#8221; Tony Ferguson. The win extended his current streak to seven in a row and launched the Iran native to No. 3 in the UFC rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Dariush is now 21-4-1 in his career and closer than ever to his first crack at the gold \u2013 a dream that he believes could come before Dustin Poirier or Conor McGregor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I [have] a little case for the title,\u201d Dariush told <a href=\"https:\/\/mmajunkie.usatoday.com\/2021\/05\/ufc-news-beneil-dariush-sees-chance-title-shot-before-dustin-poirier-vs-conor-mcgregor-winner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMA Junkie<\/a>. \u201cIn business numbers, that\u2019s the fight that\u2019s going to get the title shot. But here\u2019s the thing: I\u2019m the only guy with an actual streak in that division. That\u2019s one thing. I have the longest streak in the top three right now. The other thing is these guys don\u2019t get their contracts figured out that quickly. These guys, they\u2019ll fight \u2013 I\u2019ve seen contracts fall apart with Dustin and Conor. Things have not worked out for them. So, I\u2019m sitting here and I\u2019m ready to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beneil Dariush swept Ferguson over the course of their three-round affair to pick up a unanimous decision win. Now he&#8217;s off to relax and celebrate by welcoming his first child to the Dariush family. Therefore providing a reasonable break for all parties if the UFC wants to put things together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll you\u2019ve got to do is give me a fight at the end of November or December,\u201d Dariush said. \u201cThat\u2019s all I\u2019m saying. It\u2019s not that far off. I\u2019m sure Charles is going to want a break to celebrate in Brazil and do his thing.
