Eventually, Bisping was able to rise up and capture the 185-pound title.<\/p>\n<p>One conversation that&#8217;s always been present amongst UFC fans is the need for extra weight classes. However, instead of the 165-pound suggestion that&#8217;s usually thrown around, Bisping recently had a different idea when speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/mmajunkie.usatoday.com\/2021\/05\/ufc-michael-bisping-weighs-in-on-weight-cutting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMA Junkie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Free Fight: Michael Bisping vs Anderson Silva | 2016\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/swcgEARqmmU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just wish everyone would move up a weight class and (the UFC) bring in a cruiserweight division,\u201d Bisping explained. \u201cThe UFC have done a very good job of running an organization without me involved, but in my humble opinion, in boxing they have the cruiserweight \u2013 a 220 division.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat way all the heavyweights can stay at heavyweight, light heavyweights move to cruiserweight, and then welterweights fight at middleweight, middleweights fight at light heavy, because that\u2019s essentially what everyone does. I used to be a light heavyweight, but I started cutting weight and fighting at middleweight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s damaging to the fighter preparation because the camp becomes an obsession with making weight,\u201d Bisping said. \u201cAnd it shouldn\u2019t be about that. It should be about training for your opponent. Your battle isn\u2019t the scale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou also see people get tired in their fights from the weight cut, not everybody, but you see people slowing down in the third or second round. You can\u2019t take punches as well. I know for a fact when I was cutting weight I couldn\u2019t take a shot that well as I could at light heavyweight. If everyone just moved up a bit, but still it\u2019s not that simple because there\u2019s no one to monitor that.
