Charles Oliveira says he’s ready to “move on” from a potential fight with Dustin Poirier\u2014and Poirier isn’t losing any sleep over that remark.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, UFC commentator Joe Rogan called<\/a> for a lightweight title fight between Oliveira and Poirier, with the division’s reigning champion Khabib Nurmagomedov retiring.<\/p>\n \u201cThat would have been an interesting fight to see: [Oliveira] vs Khabib,\u201d Rogan said on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast (h\/t\u00a0Essentially Sports<\/a>). \u201cThe way Oliveira controlled [Tony Ferguson] on the ground\u2014we wanted to know what would happen [if Ferguson fought Nurmagomedov] because Tony is dangerous off his back\u2026 I\u2019m more interested to see Oliveira fight for the title than anybody in that division.<\/p>\n \u201cI believe [Nurmagomedov] is the GOAT of that division, but I don\u2019t know what would have happened with Oliveira until you see it,\u201d Rogan continued. \u201cWith Oliveira there are moments\u2014like when Cub Swanson knocked him out\u2014there\u2019s moments when you go back in his career and you go, \u2018this guy is not the greatest.\u2019 Then you see him in some fights like the Kevin Lee fight, and he\u2019s just so technical, everything\u2019s so good. He\u2019s never out of position. He doesn\u2019t force anything.<\/p>\n \u201cMan, I want to see him fight for the title,\u201d Rogan concluded. \u201cI wanna see him fight Dustin.\u201d<\/p>\n In a response to BJPENN.com’s article about Rogan’s remarks, Oliveira affirmed his desire to fight Poirier, but noted that he’s ready to “move on” amid the America’s perceived disinterest in the matchup.<\/p>\n Me too @joerogan<\/a> but Dustin has other plans.
