The bout was a rematch of a 2014 featherweight fight that McGregor won by knockout, but this time around, Poirier evened the score with a second-round TKO win.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mmafighting.com\/2021\/1\/27\/22251209\/michael-chiesa-reacts-to-dustin-poiriers-ufc-257-ko-win-conor-mcgregor-trilogy-fight-should-be-next\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MMA Fighting<\/a>&#8216;s <em>What the Heck<\/em> podcast, Chiesa shared his thoughts on what should be next for Poirier, McGregor, and other lightweight stars like Nate Diaz, Justin gaethje, Dan Hooker, Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s hoping to see a trilogy fight between Poirier and McGregor, a contender clash between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler, and a fight between Dan Hooker and Nate Diaz.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Michael Chiesa Talks UFC Fight Island 8 Win, UFC 257 Main Event, Colby Covington, More\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B_UxcottXk8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p id=\"CEe2gS\">\u201cI would like to see Nate vs. Dustin, but that doesn\u2019t make any sense at all,\u201d Chiesa, one of the UFC&#8217;s top welterweights, said. \u201cThat would be a slap in the face to some of the guys coming off of wins. When it comes to the title picture, that can get overlooked. We\u2019ve seen Yoel Romero\u00a0get title shots off of losses and things of that sort, but I think you have to keep the ball rolling with the trilogy. I think you have to do Dustin and Conor.<\/p>\n<p id=\"WUv3Yc\">\u201cIf it was up to me, I would get Nate Diaz vs. Poirier, and then I\u2019d go Gaethje vs. Conor,&#8221; Chiesa added. &#8220;You\u2019re always going to have the Nate Diaz trilogy with Conor. That\u2019s gonna be there for life. Those fights were in a totally separate weight class so no matter how their careers go, you can make that happen at any point. But you can\u2019t guarantee that Conor beats another contender. He has great skills but this is a very tough division. Don\u2019t risk losing the option for this Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor trilogy. I think you make that one next.<\/p>\n<p id=\"hy3GjV\">\u201cThen you do Michael Chandler vs. Charles Oliveira, and then you can do Dan Hooker vs. Nate Diaz,&#8221; Chiesa concluded. &#8220;I think that\u2019s what makes the most sense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Michael Chiesa, one of the UFC&#8217;s top welterweights, is currently riding a win over<a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/ufc\/neil-magny-issues-classy-statement-following-loss-to-michael-chiesa-at-ufc-fight-island-8\/\"> Neil Magny<\/a>.
