Chris Weidman is confident he has what it takes to beat Israel Adesanya.<\/p>\n

Adesanya is 20-0 and coming off the second title defense of his middleweight title at UFC 253 where he scored a second-round TKO over Paulo Costa<\/a>. Although he has only defended the belt twice, he has fought most of the divisions best except for the likes of Jared Cannonier and Jack Hermansson. For former middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, he believes he is the one to hand Adesanya his first loss.<\/p>\n

“Absolutely (I can beat Adesanya). I think that\u2019s a tailor-made matchup for me. Those athletic strikers, tall lanky guys, I\u2019ve proven that I can beat,” Weidman said to Chael Sonnen on his YouTube channel<\/a>. “I think pressure, wrestling, heavy punches, and kick, you know just nonstop pressure is what you need to beat them. That\u2019s the recipe that beats those guys. I\u2019ve proved that with Anderson Silva twice, Uriah Hall another one. Those guys are in trouble against me.”<\/p>\n

Chris Weidman is confident he can dethrone Israel Adesanya. He also believes he already deserves the fight after his last win over Omari Akhmedov<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’m with you man. I think that\u2019s an exciting fight to make. If you look up and down the rankings, I don\u2019t think there’s too many other fights that are going to excite people the way our narratives could work, and what I bring to the table. It\u2019s not any bulls**t, it\u2019s just facts,” Chris Weidman said. “If you\u2019re into MMA and you really understand the game, you look at my game and you know I present some serious trouble for Adesanya, and more than anybody\u2019s ever had in the past.<\/p>\n

“He hasn\u2019t really fought any other great, accoladed wrestler, other than Yoel Romero who doesn\u2019t use his wrestling,” Weidman continued. “So, I don\u2019t even count that. I\u2019m the type of guy that will bring that pressure, and I will take him down and I’ll ragdoll him on the floor. It is the same thing when I fought Anderson Silva.”<\/p>\n

As of right now, it seems unlikely Chris Weidman would be next for Israel Adesanya. Perhaps if he gets another win or two he can get the chance to prove that he would ragdoll the champ.<\/p>\n
