Several years later, he dropped down to the featherweight division, where he contended for the title multiple times against Jose Aldo and Max Holloway.<\/p>\n<p>While Edgar has always been a bit undersized at both lightweight and featherweight, there was some concern about his ability to make the 135-pound bantamweight limit.<\/p>\n<p>When he stepped onto the scales on Friday morning, he put those concerns to rest.<\/p>\n<p>See how Edgar looked after his first cut down to bantamweight below (video via <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/_y-Sg8wqg1U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MMA Junkie<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Frankie Edgar makes bantamweight for first time | UFC on ESPN 15 weigh-in highlight\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_y-Sg8wqg1U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While Edgar looked quite good on the scale this morning, he remains a slight underdog heading into his fight with Munhoz, which will headline the UFC on ESPN 15 card.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this underdog status, the former lightweight champion is confident he&#8217;ll get the job done and assert himself as a bona fide bantamweight title contender.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI think it could touch all facets of the game,\u201d Edgar told <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/exclusive-interviews\/frankie-edgar-plans-to-push-the-pace-against-pedro-munhoz-believes-win-puts-him-in-title-contention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BJPENN.com<\/a> recently. \u201cI\u2019m going to be in his face. I will push the pace and if the takedown is there, I will utilize it. He has good jiu-jitsu and I\u2019m sure if he sees a takedown he will go for it, too.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI\u2019m always in the mix as long as I win fights and beat the right guys based on what I did in my career,\u201d Edgar added. \u201cI\u2019m always in that conversation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If Edgar ends up claiming the UFC bantamweight title, he&#8217;ll make history as the first UFC fighter to win titles in two divisions separated by a third division.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThat has never been done before. I could be the first to win belts in two weight classes apart,\u201d Edgar said. \u201cI\u2019ve been gunning for a second belt since 2012.
