UFC bantamweight star Sean O’Malley believes that divisional rival Cody Garbrandt doesn’t really want to fight him in the wake of their recent back and forth on social media.<\/p>\n

While “Suga” may have his hands full at UFC 252 this weekend when he goes head to head with Marlon Vera, many fans and pundits are finding it hard to avoid looking to the future given how exciting he is whenever he competes in the Octagon.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview with MMA Fighting<\/a>, O’Malley made it crystal clear that he believes Garbrandt does not actually want to fight him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he wants to fight me,\u201d O\u2019Malley said. \u201cI might be a little biased \u2026 I don\u2019t think Cody wants to fight me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he sees that fight, I\u2019m long, I\u2019m tall, I\u2019m accurate, I throw straight punches, he throws hooks. He\u2019s 5\u20193.\u201d I\u2019m 6\u20194.\u201d He don\u2019t want that fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

While O’Malley is clearly enjoying his rise to prominence, he’s also admitted<\/a> that he’s missing the energy that fans bring to the occasion – and he wants them to help him feel it once again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was watching my Jose Quinones fight, and I watched it from a fan\u2019s perspective up in the stands,\u201d O\u2019Malley said. \u201cJust seeing the fans erupt when I dropped Jose\u2026 I dropped Eddie in a way more vicious, gnarly, more exciting, explosive way. I feel like rewatching that fight isn\u2019t the same. It would be way more enjoyable to rewatch it and watch the crowd go wild.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen I watched that Michael Jordan documentary,\u00a0The Last Dance<\/em>,\u201d O\u2019Malley added. \u201cSeeing how excited those fans get when someone makes a game-winning shot\u2026 I picture myself in those situations, dropping someone, and it sucks that I feel like I\u2019m getting robbed of that moment, in a way. But also I know a million people or whatever are watching at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI told everyone: record your reaction,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to watch it. I\u2019ve watched every single one I could find of peoples reactions when I knocked out Eddie, and it kind of it makes it feel like they\u2019re there with us. I definitely miss it.\u201d<\/p>\n
