In fact, he recently doubled down on his comments about Peterson.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Dominick Cruz criticizes ref Keith Peterson after UFC 249 loss to Henry Cejudo | ESPN MMA\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OWcpc-rbfkw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore I went out to that fight, I specifically remember looking at this referee, Keith Peterson, and he\u2019s mumbling, he\u2019s touching the floor, he\u2019s putting his fists down, and then putting his fingers about where not to knee, where to knee,\u201d Cruz said on Ariel Helwani&#8217;s MMA Show (h\/t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/sport\/martial-arts\/mixed-martial-arts\/article\/3084073\/ufc-dominick-cruz-doubles-down-referee?utm_source=Twitter&amp;utm_medium=share_widget&amp;utm_campaign=3084073\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">South China Morning Pos<\/a>t).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd he won\u2019t look me in the eye, and I\u2019m going underneath to try to make sure he looks me in my eyes and I\u2019m like, \u2018Hey man, I can\u2019t understand what you\u2019re talking about, be clear, because you are in control of this fight,'&#8221; Cruz continued. \u201cMy experience of him was smelling like he\u2019d been out all night the night before, like cigarettes and alcohol, and he could not make eye contact with me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have never in 25 fights had a referee that could not make eye contact with me before a fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cruz then took things even further, claiming his teammate Jeremy Stephens, who also fought at UFC 249, previously had to carry Peterson up a flight of stairs because he was so inebriated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve just never had a referee that I felt so shaky about leading into the fight, that smelled the way he smelled,\u201d Cruz said. \u201cI have accounts of fighters in camps who have legitimately \u2026 I mean Jeremy Stephens has told me, he had to carry that dude back up to his room before, he\u2019s so hammered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this is real stuff that we\u2019re talking about. The fights are going on and these guys are getting hammered the night before and they\u2019re not clear and they\u2019re coming in hungover.
