{"id":346303,"date":"2020-04-06T06:43:15","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T13:43:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/?p=346303"},"modified":"2020-04-06T06:43:15","modified_gmt":"2020-04-06T13:43:15","slug":"belarus-added-to-the-list-of-replacement-locations-for-future-ufc-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/ufc\/belarus-added-to-the-list-of-replacement-locations-for-future-ufc-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus added to the list of replacement locations for future UFC events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Belarus has emerged as a potential plan B for the UFC when it comes to hosting future events for the promotion.<\/p>\n<p>The last few weeks haven&#8217;t been great for the UFC, with the promotion being forced to postpone or outright cancel a string of events as a result of the ongoing <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/ufc\/nikita-krylov-says-coronavirus-is-transmitted-through-your-tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">coronavirus pandemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While most other sports around the world haven&#8217;t even attempted to put shows on under these circumstances, the UFC is different.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Belarus president plays ice hockey saying &#039;there is no coronavirus here&#039;\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8cNCIBxzfA8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/sport24.ru\/news\/mma\/2020-04-04-khabib---fergyuson-gde-proydet-boy-data-v-2020-m-boy-otmenen-prichiny-boy-khabiba-i-fergyusona-v-belorussii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sport24<\/a>, one country that is more than willing to help the UFC put on events in these trying times is Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We offered specific arenas which could host the UFC,&#8221; said Belarus Federation of Hand to Hand Fighting &amp; MMA, Maxim Korolkov (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/sport\/485022-khabib-ferguson-belarus-offer-ufc-249\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RT Sport<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of them is the Minsk Arena which can hold 15,000 people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In terms of getting UFC 249 over the finish line, it appears as if that was a non-starter &#8211; but future events could be a different story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We received an oral reply [from the UFC].<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Firstly, we were thanked for the offer.\u00a0Secondly, our proposal was included as a conditional &#8216;plan B&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They already have venues for this tournament. Dana White does not want to report this, but they have well-developed options.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In any case, they are grateful and ready to consider our option with Minsk for future UFC tournaments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While many nations have gone into lockdown as a result of the outbreak, Belarus has taken a different stance.
