Cannonier wound up injuring his pectoral so it fell through. He was also open to being the backup for the MW title fight. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HelwaniShow?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HelwaniShow<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arielhelwani?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@arielhelwani<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; MMA On Point (@OnPointMMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OnPointMMA\/status\/1229499960590262272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>While the fight between Till and Cannonier didn&#8217;t work out, the former believes he could still end up fighting on the UFC 248 card.<\/p>\n<p>He divulged that he&#8217;s currently training twice a day and working on keeping his weight down in the event that the UFC needs him to step in and replace Adesanya or Romero.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/darrentill2?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@darrentill2<\/a> says he&#39;s training hard twice a day right now to keep his weight down and stay prepared in case the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/UFC?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#UFC<\/a> wants to use him as the backup for the Israel Adesanya vs. Yoel Romero middleweight title fight at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/UFC248?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#UFC248<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HelwaniShow?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HelwaniShow<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/arielhelwani?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@arielhelwani<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; MMA On Point (@OnPointMMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OnPointMMA\/status\/1229500722410115074?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Darren Till began his UFC career as a welterweight, picking up wins over the likes of Donald &#8220;Cowboy&#8221; Cerrone and Stephen &#8220;Wonderboy&#8221; Thompson. After coming up short in a welterweight title fight with former champion Tyron Woodley and then losing his comeback fight against Jorge Masvidal, however, he elected to hike up to middleweight. Till also struggled on many occasions to make the welterweight division&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mma-news\/ufc\/daniel-cormier-reflects-on-brutal-weight-cuts-down-to-205-lbs\/\">weight limit<\/a>, which also factored into his decision.<\/p>\n<p>The Brit made his middleweight debut at UFC 244 last December, taking on the former interim title challenger Kelvin Gastelum in the card&#8217;s co-main event.
